KG students observed their Honey Pot Hill pumpkins using their five senses. They each created detailed drawings of their pumpkin in their science notebook. We worked on labeling our pictures and writing details that were observed. Students also measured the height and width of their pumpkin, using both standard and non-standard measurement.
Baker kindergarten students had an amazing time on our field trip to Honey Pot Hill Orchards. We rode a school bus, took a hayride into the orchards, picked and ate apples, enjoyed donuts and apple cider, picked pumpkins and had a picnic lunch. THANK YOU to all the parent chaperones who were able to join us. This trip would not run as smoothly as it does without your support. Stay tuned for more pictures!
On a beautiful, sunny Wednesday, KG took a walk to the Putterham branch of the Brookline Public Library. Kelly, the librarian, told us all about the Brookline summer reading program. It sounds like a lot of fun and definitely worth checking out over the summer! She showed us all the different things that children can check out from the library; books, DVDs, books on tape, comic books, magazines, and backpacks full of math and science learning activities! Kelly showed us around the library, and then everyone got to pick out a book. Students used their new library cards to check out books to bring home. It was a really fun trip and a great way to get excited about summer reading!
The Baker School kindergarten classes had a wonderful field trip to Honey Pot Hill Orchards. We completed a scavenger hunt on the bus (looking for landmarks out the windows), took a hayride, picked apples straight from the trees, checked out the farm animals, ate delicious cider donuts, picked pumpkins and enjoyed a picnic lunch. Thank you to the parents who chaperoned and helped make our day run so smoothly! Check out more pictures at https://bakerkg2014.shutterfly.com/pictures/127.
