At the end of March, Baker School kindergarten students were part of the annual production of Carnival of the Animals. They spent weeks learning about the symphony music and the animals in the Carnival. Each student created their own costume and practiced performing to the music. The show was spectacular, as always!
Students created collages of their animals using construction paper and scrapbook paper. There was no drawing involved; just cutting and gluing!
During computer time with Mr. Padula, students drew their Carnival animals in KidPix. This is not easy to do with a trackpad on a laptop! Aren't these beautiful?
Students painted their animals as well!
In art class with Ms. Kauffman, students used clay to create 3D models of their animals.
We are now wrapping up our animal research reports! We can't wait to share our hard work with everyone!
We have been very busy in KG with non-fiction texts! We have read nonfiction books about every animal in the Carnival of the Animals, focusing on learning about the animal's characteristics, habitat and diet. Students are now doing their own non-fiction writing during Writer's Workshop. This writing will be compiled into their very own nonfiction book!
Students used pattern blocks and snap cubes to re-create the animals in The Carnival of the Animals.
