All my best,
Congratulations to the KG class of 2015! Every single student (all 23!) has had a wonderfully successful first year at Baker School. We all came together as a community, developed and strengthened friendships, learned new things (academically and socially) and had lots of fun! I hope that everyone has a relaxing, enjoyable summer. Please keep in touch!
All my best,
We explored maps and other geography tools. We also found our homes on Google Maps!
We learned how to tell time to the hour, and played time memory. We matched the digital clock to the analog clock.
We brought back some of our favorite math centers to practice our addition and subtraction skills!.
We observed our sunflower plants one last time before sending them home! They have outgrown their little cups and need more space outdoor to grow!
On a beautiful, sunny Wednesday, KG took a walk to the Putterham branch of the Brookline Public Library. Kelly, the librarian, told us all about the Brookline summer reading program. It sounds like a lot of fun and definitely worth checking out over the summer! She showed us all the different things that children can check out from the library; books, DVDs, books on tape, comic books, magazines, and backpacks full of math and science learning activities! Kelly showed us around the library, and then everyone got to pick out a book. Students used their new library cards to check out books to bring home. It was a really fun trip and a great way to get excited about summer reading!
KG students worked together to convert our dramatic play area into a classroom. Students made number lines, ABC charts, poems, and classroom rules to display. The "classroom" is now stocked with supplies for students to play school. They are practicing oral language skills, literacy skills, math skills AND social skills!
